CU Faculty Google Spaces Communities for Instructional Faculty
If you’re looking for other faculty in your area to talk and learn with. Check out Google Spaces within your CU Gmail site. This video (6:25 minutes) walks you through how to use them and this resource as well.
Often, we heard that faculty want to be in community with one another and have a space where they can share their wins, discuss challenges, and exchange ideas.
All instructional faculty will be placed in one or more Google Space. Google Spaces are online portals that connect you with a group of CU faculty for asynchronous chat, file sharing, and the like. Google Spaces are created around groupings of faculty who are teaching the same core course or who are teaching courses that overlap in ideas, themes, and content. We’re hoping that these spaces become places of community, learning, and sharing.
Community Guidelines
These spaces are designed to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment for CU faculty members. Our goal is to encourage conversation, connection, and opportunity across faculty. To ensure our community thrives, please keep the following guidelines:
- Share resources, opportunities, and experiences that contribute to professional growth and teaching effectiveness.
- Support colleagues in their pursuit of learning, research, and innovation by offering constructive feedback and resources.
- Contribute to the community by celebrating successes, offering support during challenges, and maintaining a tone of encouragement.
- Approach conversations with an open mind and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Treat all members with respect, kindness, and professionalism.
- Address disagreements or conflicts with tact and empathy, focusing on ideas rather than individuals.
- Exercise caution when discussing students or sensitive situations. Refrain from sharing identifiable student information to comply with privacy laws and ethical guidelines.
- Seek consent before sharing conversations or information from the channel outside of it.
- Be mindful of language and actions that may inadvertently exclude or marginalize others.
- Avoid posting content that could be considered offensive or disruptive to the channel’s purpose.
- Consider creating new threads and responding in those threads for distinct discussions to avoid overwhelming existing conversations.
- Acknowledge the source of shared materials or insights not originally your own.
- Limit the use of the channel for promotional purposes, focusing instead on its role as a community and support platform.
- Provide feedback on the channel’s utility and suggest improvements to ensure it remains a valuable resource for all members.
- Participate actively in shaping the community by contributing ideas, resources, and support.
